Our church was very fortunate to have an extensive collection of historical records saved for many years by Hubert & Bobbi Smith.  Several years ago a historical group came together to sort through and organize what was available and make presentations of their interesting findings to the members of the church by using bulletin boards in the Fellowship Hall and messages in the monthly newsletter.

 

We are inspired and blessed by how God has encouraged our faithful leaders and believers throughout the years. As the church approached their 125th Anniversary in November of 2019, the group decided to write a true history of the First Presbyterian Church of McAlester.  By researching newsletters, many years of session meeting minutes, previous anniversary celebrations as well as information from groups outside of the church, we were able to publish a book of the history to date.  It has been a rewarding experience and one which will contribute to the growth of this church and its members.  The committee meets every Thursday at 10:00 AM to continue working on the history of this church.
